Individual art therapy and counseling services occur either in-office in Leawood, KS or virtually via a secure telehealth platform. An initial session is facilitated to review your background history, presenting challenges, goals, etc. and is largely focused on information gathering. Initial sessions are scheduled for 55 to 60 minutes and provide an opportunity to further explore goals of treatment, confidentiality, and other policies. From there, individual therapy sessions are typically 45 to 50 minutes in length and occur at varying frequencies depending on need.
Therapeutic art groups are centered around particular goals, themes, art media, etc. and are facilitated at various times throughout the year in and around Leawood, KS or online. These groups are meant to encourage a sense of community and support for attendees and to also provide folks with a designated time and space for creativity and art-making without judgement. Groups are also offered for other mental health clinicians depending on interest.
Previous art experience is not necessary and art skills are not required, as the art is used as a vehicle for growth, healing, and communication.
Navigating diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, and others can feel overwhelming. Parent support consultation meetings are facilitated with the goal of providing psychoeducation, developing intervention strategies, and allowing parents and caregivers a space to discuss their challenges, frustrations, hopes, etc. These meetings may occur as a resource for families whose tween or teen is receiving individual therapy services with Keslie or could be facilitated as a stand alone service for parents or caregivers who need some extra support or education, and may occur in-person in Leawood, KS or virtually.
Ongoing art therapy clinical supervision is a critical process when pursuing advanced credentialing. I am happy to offer ATCB-approved individual and group ATR supervision, wherein art-making and meaningful discussion can occur to further foster your growth as a competent, ethical, and creative clinician. As much as possible, the exploration of supervision topics will occur experientially through art-based and sometimes play-based activities.
Please contact me directly regarding your interest in ATR supervision. Or complete the ATR Supervisee Application to get things started!
Are you ready to take the next step in your professional journey by seeking clinical supervision? I offer BSRB-approved clinical supervision for Kansas Licensed Professional Counselors. Let's work together to further enhance your clinical skills, deepen your identity as a therapist, and continue to foster your understanding and confidence in providing ethically sound and competent counseling services. As your clinical supervisor, I will encourage your development utilizing creative, experiential, and sometimes directive techniques.

Neurodiversity can look like many things, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD (Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), OCD, and other disorders. Outside of these things labeled "disorders", some people have thought processes, behaviors, and internal experiences of the world that look different than folks who present as neurotypical.
My counseling services will help with:
I have a passion for working with folks who experience the world through unique lenses. I may utilize art therapy, play therapy, behavioral strategies, and other counseling techniques to address goals identified by the client (and/or caregiver depending on the client) and am neurodiversity-affirming in my approach.
Many people experience feelings of anxiety, which may or may not be related to some form of trauma they may have experienced. Anxiety can be a helpful emotion but we sometimes get stuck in a heightened state of anxiety which can cause ongoing challenges. Anxiety counseling can be helpful!

Collaborating with my clients, I may utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), expressive therapies, mindfulness strategies, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) when appropriate. Other counseling techniques may be utilized depending on the identified goals.
Parents, caregivers, and helping professionals experience a unique set of challenges in day-to-day life. Often times, the stress of caregiving and providing professional services become hard to manage and eventually begin affecting our lives outside of those roles.

As someone who has worked in direct care and as a clinician serving clients with a high level of need, I am no stranger to burnout. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), expressive therapies, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I can help you get back on track with feeling grounded and help you rebuild.
Please reach me at keslie@creativeresilienceks.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The best way to get set-up for services is to schedule an initial call! Or you are welcome to reach out by email or phone! Emails can be sent to creativeresilienceks@gmail.com and calls can be made to 913-735-3563. From there, a free 15-minute phone consultation will be scheduled to determine if we are the best fit.
It is important to me that I can provide the care you need within my ethical scope of practice. If we aren't the best fit, I can provide you with some names of other therapists whom you could contact if requested.
If we both decide that we can move forward from that phone consultation, I will send you the welcome paperwork to be completed and returned, then an initial session will be scheduled
I do not bill insurance; however, I can provide you with a superbill each month that you can submit to your insurance company if requested. If you are hoping to submit a superbill to your insurance company, I strongly suggest you call the number on the back of your insurance card to ask about your "out-of-network" therapy benefits and how to submit an out-of-network reimbursement claim.
Rates for most therapeutic services range from $90-135, depending on type of session or service. Rates for other services outside of therapy sessions vary.
You have a right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate", which is an estimate of charges for scheduled healthcare services. This will be provided to you during the initial paperwork process. The law requires healthcare providers to provide this to clients who are uninsured or self-paying at least one business day prior to the scheduled service. If your bill is $400 over what was listed in the Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the charges.

Our initial session will be 55-minutes in length, wherein we will meet formally to discuss past and current symptoms and goals, and some simple assessments may be administered to gain a better understanding of background history and needs. The main goal of this initial session is for me to gather important information from you and for us to begin building a therapeutic relationship.
Individual therapy sessions are 45 to 50 minutes in length.
Parent consultation sessions typically last 30-45 minutes. In these sessions, I will meet with the parents without the child present to review progress in treatment goals, provide parent training when appropriate, consult on behavioral challenges, discuss referrals for community-based resources, etc. These occur every 4-8 weeks depending on the child and parents' needs.
Your scheduled session time is held exclusively for you. To avoid a charge for requests to reschedule or cancellations, requests need to be submitted at least 24 business hours prior to the scheduled appointment. Remaining engaged in the therapy process requires a time commitment, which is important in our ability to work together effectively.
I specialize in working with tweens, teens, and adult women who are experiencing challenges with neurodiversity (Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, giftedness, other developmental issues), anxiety, challenging life transitions, and trauma. I also specialize in providing art therapy, play therapy, and/or EMDR, and other techniques within my scope of practice.
Because of my specialized training and scope of practice, I may refer you to other providers if I do not feel that I can provide you with the best care. In cases of substance use and couples seeking therapy, I will refer clients to other therapists who specialize in those forms of treatment. There may be other situations that could be better addressed by a therapist with other specializations, in which case I can provide you with names of other therapists if requested.
It is important to me to provide an atmosphere that is free of judgement and affirming of gender-identity, sexual orientation, spirituality, race, ethnicity, physical ability, level of support needs, etc.
The best way to figure out if we'd be a good fit is to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation. We can further discuss what you're looking for, and I can answer any of your questions. Call me at 913-735-3563!
Art therapy is the process in which a trained art therapist facilitates a therapeutic relationship for a client to express themselves freely using visual arts. This can look like drawing, painting, sculpting, jewelry-making, building, etc. in an environment where the art therapist can support and encourage the client to move toward their identified goals. Art therapy is for people of all ages and abilities, and no prior art experience is necessary! The art making process is viewed as a form of communication and can help make the invisible visible.

As a Board Certified Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Registered Play Therapist (RPT), Autism Specialist (AS), and trained EMDR Therapist, I incorporate a variety of creative strategies to help clients of all ages express what may be too difficult to put into words. These treatment approaches are appropriate to address many presenting problems, and there are no special skills required. The open-ended nature of art therapy and play therapy, along with my curious approach, create a therapeutic environment ideal for growth and also trauma treatment.
Play therapy is the process in which a trained play therapist uses the therapeutic powers of play to further encourage developmental growth and work through mental health challenges. This can look like creating a scene in the sand tray, playing a game, dressing up, using puppets to process difficult topics, caring for dolls, etc. It is the play therapist's job to facilitate change through the child's play using directive and
non-directive strategies. For more information, visit the Association for Play Therapy's website here: https://www.a4pt.org/page/WhyPlayTherapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of therapy that is structured to encourage clients to take a brief glimpse at troubling memories paired with a form of Bilateral Stimulation (BLS) to help the brain process those memories with less vividness and fewer troubling emotions. Although this form of treatment is typically intended to be implemented for trauma treatment, EMDR strategies have also been shown to be successful to address anxiety, phobias, OCD symptoms, poor self-esteem, etc.
I incorporate EMDR strategies in the majority of my sessions with both children and adults and pair those strategies with art therapy and/or play therapy when appropriate. Instead of using the typical eye movements associated with EMDR, I prefer to incorporate "buzzies", light tapping, or other creative forms of BLS to further individualize trauma treatment for my clients and create an environment of safety.
